The Edmonton Oilers just made a trade with the San Jose Sharks sending Cody Ceci and a 2025 third-round pick their way. In return, they get Ty Emberson, a 24-year-old right-shot defenseman who was a third-round pick in 2018.

Emberson, was recently named the best defensive defenseman in the AHL's Eastern Conference last year as a member of the New York Rangers affiliate Hartford Wolf Pack. Drafted 73rd overall by the Arizona Coyotes in 2018, he's played 132 AHL games with Tucson and Hartford, racking up 12 goals and 39 points.

With Emberson in the mix, there's now room for the Oilers to keep defenseman Philip Broberg who was offer sheeted by the ST Louis Blues. Along with forward Dylan Holloway, who will likely be the one headed there after Edmonton's addition of winger Vasily Podkolzin who they acquired earlier in the day from the Vancouver Canucks for a 4th round pick in next year's draft.
