Leon Draisaitl has excelled in the NHL with the Oilers, and now he's expanding his reach in the sports world, becoming a part owner of a team in Germany.

Leon Draisaitl is one of the biggest names in German sports at the moment, and now he's giving back to the country, as it has been officially revealed that he has become a part owner of a team in a new German Soccer league to be known as The Icon League.

»The league was created by German streamer Elias Nerlich and the recently retired Toni Kross. The latter spent the past 10 seasons with soccer giant Real Madrid, winning the Champions League at the start of June before riding off into the sunset.»

While the league of 14 teams is represented by many stars in Germany that will also playing, Draisaitl will remain purely as a co-owner as he continues his focus on chasing a Stanley Cup in Edmonton.

No. 29 is up for a major extension with the Oilers this summer, as he is expected to land a deal worth $13 million AAV or more, and with the playing days in the NHL always being limited, this sets him up for success beyond his time on the ice. It's unclear if he has any interest in other sports and developing his portfolio as an owner, but for now, this could be the first in a line of many intriguing business deals for the German star.
