Cédric Paré from the Toronto Maple Leafs just spoke out following him injuring Montreal Canadiens star forward, Patrik Laine in tonight's preseason showdown at the Bell Centre. We're not here to fuel the fire with mean comments about him. He probably wishes he could take back that moment more than anyone else. Cédric's going to need support from his loved ones in the days to come because some of the comments on social media there are too harsh. It's a tough situation for everyone involved, and it's genuinely sad. Paré insists that he never intended to injure Laine and hopes for his quick recovery. It's a fast game, it wasn't my intention. It's just unfortunate, I hope he's fine. It wasn't my intention. I didn't mean to do that.

Montreal captain also Nick Suzuki weighed in on the hit, and viewed it as intentional. I thought he lunged out pretty good.

Unfortunately Laine wasn't the only one who went down. Star Habs prospect defenseman and 2023 first round pick David Reinbacher, got hit near the boards and didn't return.

Unfortunately, both players left the arena on crutches.

Paré is a 25-year-old from Lévis, Quebec, standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 212 pounds. He was picked 173rd overall by the Boston Bruins in 2017. Regardless, we're all hoping that Laine and Reinbacher can get back on the ice as soon as possible.
