The Toronto Maple Leafs and Philadelphia Flyers are looking to improve ahead of the season, and now an intriguing trade proposal could be the way to do just that.

Both the Philadelphia Flyers and Toronto Maple Leafs have high hopes for the upcoming season, and while they've got some solid rosters, they could potentially benefit from some improvements. Now, an intriguing trade proposal has emerged that could see them mutually benefit and help each other out, and it would be one that helps improve both rosters.

Toronto acquires:

Scott Laughton (C)
2025 1st Round Pick (COL)
2025 2nd Round Pick (ANA)

Philadelphia acquires:

Timothy Liljegren (D)
Calle Jarnkrok (F)
2027 3rd Round Pick

While Toronto not only gets the best player in the trade and a first-round pick (that's likely to be late in the first-round considering it's owned by Colorado, but this would give Philadelphia another veteran winger and the very talented Timothy Liljegren, who is worthy of a bigger role than he has in Toronto.

Ahead of the 2024/25 season, the Flyers have a very talented young core full of players that are ready to break out at the next level, and getting a veteran like Jarnkrok and a talented player like Liljegren would certainly help out in a big way. As for the Maple Leafs, this move would allow them to also trade Nick Robertson for further trade assets and add another veteran to their forward core after Laughton, an Ontario native tallied 39 points a season ago.

Ultimately, it's very unclear if this trade would ever even be entertained by Danny Briere and Brad Treliving, but if they could pull it off, it would make sense for both teams and allow all three players a new opportunity to thrive.
