<a href='https://www.nhl.com/fr/canadiens/' class='lien_marqueur' target='_blank' rel='noopener'> Montreal Canadiens</a> head coach <a href='https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_St-Louis' class='lien_marqueur' target='_blank' rel='noopener'>Martin St-Louis</a> found himself frustrated Saturday night when star forward Patrik Laine left the preseason game against the <a href='https://www.nhl.com/mapleleafs/roster' class='lien_marqueur' target='_blank' rel='noopener'>Toronto Maple Leafs</a> with a leg injury. The incident occurred early in the first period during a knee-on-knee collision with Toronto's Cedric Paré. After the game, St. Louis addressed the situation, and chalked the play up to the league's growing pace. <q> I've said it before; the League doesn't care, it just keeps going. For us, we have to keep going too. We'll see - is this short-term? Long-term? We don't know. He's going to be evaluated, and we'll keep moving forward. </q> Unfortunately this has been what's plagued the 26 year-old over the course of his career. <div align='center'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/talk_canadiens/status/1840178257645142280'> </a></blockquote></div> The former second overall pick in the 2016 NHL Draft by the <a href='https://www.nhl.com/jets/roster' class='lien_marqueur' target='_blank' rel='noopener'>Winnipeg Jets</a>, has 388 points in 480 NHL games. He's a former 40 goal scorer with one of the most lethal shots in the game, but has only played 129 out of 246 games since 2021. The Habs also lost defenseman David Reinbacher after taking a hit from Matthew Knies and also didn't return. Both players left the arena on crutches and in braces. <div align='center'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/thefourthperiod/status/1840223999327940981'> </a></blockquote></div> While the severity of both injuries aren't clear, one thing you can confirm is that these Canadiens have gumption. Arber Xhekaj scrapped with Pare after he impaired Laine. <div align='center'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/ginohard_/status/1840175031478816830'> </a></blockquote></div> Juraj Slafkovsky dropped the mitts with Marshall Rifai and needed one punch to send his message with Reinbacher desolated. <div align='center'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/missincurfew/status/1840187048558289152'> </a></blockquote></div> Hopefully both victims make smooth recoveries and can return in front of the Bell Centre faithful shortly.
