The New Jersey Devils have just hired former controversial GM of the Philadelphia Flyers Chuck Fletcher in the role of senior adviser to GM Tom Fitzgerald.

Devils fans likely aren't too pleased with this signing, as Fletcher has been called messy and comes with a lot of baggage. He is the son of former NHL great Cliff Fletcher, so it's been tough for Chuck to follow in those footsteps, and he's been failing.

#NEWS: We've added Chuck Fletcher, Andy Greene and Manny Legace to our Hockey Operations staff.

Chuck held the GM position in Minnesota with the Wild from 2009 until 2018, however the team was very mediocre during that period and never really made any deep runs. Chuck later took on the GM role with the Flyers in Philly from 2018 to 2023, but again the team was very average, making no deep runs either. Experts and fans are blaming him for the mess he left current GM Daniel Briere to clean up, as the team was in shambles.

Fletcher was criticized for signing many players to a bunch of horrible contracts. Those contracts were for Kevin Hayes, Ivan Provorov, Rasmus Ristolainen, Sean Couturier, Joel Farabee and Anthony DeAngelo. Fletcher doesn't have many fans in Minnesota, and he definitely doesn't have in Philadelphia either. Devils fans are sure praying for a miracle here.
