Adam Erne never quite found his footing with the Edmonton Oilers last season, and now the 29-year old is set for a new challenge in the Big Apple. Drafted in the second round by the Tampa Bay Lightning back in 2013, Adam Erne has shown immense promise during his time in the NHL, but unfortunately, he's just never been able to find a permanent role thus far. In 2018 and 2020, Erne has hit career highs of 20 points, but beyond that, he hasn't yet lived up to the expectations of his draft status, and 2023/24 didn't change that either, as the Connecticut native tallied just one goal and 2 points in 24 games played before being moved to Bakersfield and the AHL. Now, he's got another opportunity, this time with the New York Rangers, as he has signed a professional tryout with them ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

With a deep squad full of superstars and emerging talent, it's unclear what role Erne could be looking at with New York, but with 379 games of NHL experience, it's safe to say that he's an intriguing option for the team. Unfortunately, with a career high of 11 goals in a single season, he likely isn't ever going to rise to the top-six, but if the Rangers find themselves with injuries or he blows them away in camp, there's no reason why he can't earn a spot in their bottom-six or a depth role in the weeks ahead.
