New York Rangers rookie Matt Rempe has become very popular on social media lately, with fans actively forcing him to defend himself against their advances. One Rangers fan was hoping to land a date with the rookie forward, effectively asking him out via an Instagram poll. Rempe actually saw the story and responded by voting no with the comment, Please leave me alone. Making matters worse, the Rangers fan reportedly responded by making a tiktoc about the situation each time Rempe rejected her. If I added my NHL crush to my close friends on ig to shoot my shot with him multiple times & got denied you couldn't waterboard that information out of me never mind post a tiktok all THREE times he said no

Fan response to this has been mixed. On the one hand, many fans have found it to be somewhat creepy and concerning behavior on behalf of the Rangers fan. To be fair, this is not generally considered to be acceptable behavior. This is weirdo behavior. Cannot believe people think this is funny or cute

That being said, many Rangers fans have found the humor in the situation. Many had to question whether or not the story was even real, given how ridiculous it is. my guy is locked in. the only thing that matters is the grind.

Is this real because this is funny as hell

Rempe provided the Rangers with a lot of jump after he was called up towards the end of the regular season. He only recorded 2 points in 17 regular-season games, but he also totaled 71 penalty minutes, many of which came in fights with well-established NHL enforcers, including Ryan Reaves. The team seemed to feed of his energy, but he was ultimately reduced to a very minor role in the playoffs, averaging just over 6 minutes of ice time in 11 games, despite several contests going well into overtime. It should be interesting to see how he responds next season and whether or not he makes the Rangers out of training camp.
