Goodbye Captain? The New York Rangers could be shopping defenseman and locker room leader Jacob Trouba. Reports suggest the Rangers are looking to move Trouba, but he's not keen on leaving, wanting to honor his wife's extension at her hospital. Initially when Trouba signed his 8 year, $64 million deal with the Blueshirts after being acquired from the Winnipeg Jets, the thought behind that deal was he would become open to leaving with two years left on it. Yet recently his wife was extended a year. Therefore Trouba, who had a modified no-trade clause has no intentions of agreeing to leave until at least next Summer. However, that hasn't stopped teams from trying.

The Fourth Period reports that at least four teams are interested in Trouba, including his hometown Detroit Red Wings, as well as the Anaheim Ducks, Buffalo Sabres, and Nashville Predators.

Trouba has a 15-team no-trade list and has some say in where he could end up, but the Rangers are actively shopping him and are trying to trade him ahead of the start of the new season. Trouba has two years remaining on his current contract. TEAMS REPORTEDLY LINKED: Detroit, Buffalo, Anaheim, Nashville With two years left on his contract, which has an average annual value (AAV) of $8 million, it remains to be seen how this situation will play out for GM Chris Drury with his handpicked captain from two years ago.
