The Ottawa Senators started the off-season with a huge trade, but after bragging about another coming at the draft, they've ended up with egg on their face.

The Ottawa Senators have been expecting a playoff run for a number of years now, and after moving Joonas Korpisalo and acquiring Vezina winning goaltender Linus Ullmark, confidence in them was high around the league. However, they followed it up with one of the worst trades in recent NHL memory, with many behind the scenes in the NHL mocking them for the dreadful move.
Frank Seravalli mentions every GM, player, agent he's spoken to is mind boggled with the Chychrun trade lol

Now, Staios begins to look even worse, as TSN's Darren Dreger has dropped a report that the Senators GM spent time at the NHL Draft in Vegas bragging that the team had a guaranteed 1st and 2nd round pick on the table, likely trying to start a bidding war for defenseman Jakob Chychrun.
Dreger: "The Chychrun trade was interesting because I know Steve Staios was telling other managers in Vegas at the draft that he had a 1st and a 2nd but was looking for more for Jakob Chychrun. Ahhh, sounds doubtful that he had a 1st and a 2nd"

Hilariously, the team ended up moving him for a solid defenseman to replace Chychrun and a third round pick in 2026, so it's safe to say that Staios won't spend his time bragging about potential returns anytime soon.
