Brad Treliving has made the unpopular decision of sending down the team's top prospect to the AHL after he only spent a few days up with the NHL team. The Toronto Maple Leafs reassigned forward Fraser Minten to the AHL's Toronto Marlies.

He was summoned last month to assist in filling out a string of injuries and in 11 NHL games since, he registered two goals and four points. This season, Fraser Minten has two goals and four points in just five AHL appearances with the Marlies. The 20-year-old, selected 38th overall in the 2022 NHL Draft, made his NHL debut last season, going pointless in four games. The move reassigning him would seem to indicate center David Kampf could be returning from long-term injured reserve. David Kampf, 29, has three assists in 18 games this season but has been out since Nov. 16 after playing 14:22 against the Edmonton Oilers. His return will add to an increasingly shaping-up Maple Leafs roster, one that's just gotten Auston Matthews, Max Domi, Max Pacioretty, and Jake McCabe off injuries. While fans are likely disappointed that Minten will no longer be with the team, they can be rest assured knowing that the team does appear to be getting healthier, which is going to be very important down the stretch of the season.
