The Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy landed a massive hit to the head of Toronto Maple Leafs' David Kampf and got away with it. In last night's big 2-1 win for the Toronto Maple Leafs, who managed to avoid elimination, officiating caused a stir. Referees missed obvious calls from both sides, but Charlie McAvoy's hit on David Kampf might be the biggest mistake. Fighting for the puck behind the Bruins' goal, McAvoy went straight at Kampf's head, as he tried to stop him from reaching the puck. Unfortunately, he was in a vulnerable position, leaned forward. Watch the whole thing in the following video:

Kampf returned to the bench with a bloodied face and looked shaken up. The NHL's Department of Player Safety will likely review the incident. If they decide to act on it, an official statement should be released soon. Other incidents weren't penalized by the officials. Between plays, Max Domi pushed Marchand, who fell, and even if they were standing right alongside him when it happened, didn't make a call.
