Tonight the rivalry renewed between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings is clouded in frustration and controversy after a crucial call went against the Maple Leafs. The Toronto Maple Leafs continue their campaign tonight against the Detroit Red Wings in a key Atlantic Division matchup. Early in the game, Toronto Maple Leafs veteran Max Pacioretty went into a battle in the corner with Detroit Red Wings forward Alex DeBrincat. Despite coming in and going after Pacioretty no penalty was given to Chiarot and the Maple Leafs would end up heading to a penalty kill. This controversial call would end up not impacting the outcome of the game overall but set a tone for the physical game that would follow. As of now, the Maple Leafs trail the Red Wings 2-1 as the game is about to head into the third period. All eyes will be on Toronto to see if they can overcome adversity and claw back in the game to continue their success this season.
