Today a new report in relation to tonight's Toronto Maple Leafs game has increased hype around a potential trade between with the Dallas Stars. The Toronto Maple Leafs have been actively shopping the trade market over the past couple of weeks. In particular, the Maple Leafs are trying to find a new home for defenseman Timothy Liljegren. Up until this point, a trade was not close to getting done however a new report from NHL insider David Pagnotta has revealed things have taken a major step. In a post on X David Pagnotta revealed that 14 teams have scouts or general managers in attendance for tonight's Toronto Maple Leafs and Los Angeles Kings game. Included in that 14 is Dallas Stars GM Jim Nill.

With the Stars GM being in attendance this seems like a major step a team would take before making a move to acquire a player. The Stars were connected to Liljegren earlier this week as a team who he could thrive with. Earlier this week the Dallas Stars were connected to Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson as well. However, Timothy Liljegren and other defensemen might not be the only players of interest for the Dallas Stars. Earlier this offseason Toronto Maple Leafs young forward Nick Robertson requested a trade and wanted a change of scenery. He eventually signed a contract and returned but has failed to impress once again this season. If the Toronto Maple Leafs are looking to move on Dallas would be a perfect team to deal with. Nick's brother Jason Robertson is a superstar for the Dallas Stars and likely would help him fit in.

With tonight's game showcasing both players it likely was the best opportunity for the Stars to get a look at all of the players they are considering trading for. At the moment a trade is not close but having that many scouts and a GM at a game this early in the season means something could be on the way soon. As more information comes out on the Toronto Maple Leafs plans with Timothy Liljegren and Nick Robertson we will pass along the latest details.
