Joseph Woll has returned to practice for the Toronto Maple Leafs and after seeing him on the ice a new report has revealed when he could return to game action. The Toronto Maple Leafs have been without Joseph Woll for the first couple of weeks of the NHL season after Woll was placed on injured reserve with a groin injury. The injury popped up out of nowhere and frustrated fans, not knowing how long he would be gone. Today fans got a bit of insight into that question as Joseph Woll finally returned to full practice. He was seen on the ice taking shots and practicing making saves through screens.

After practice, the Toronto Maple Leafs said that Joseph Woll was not quite ready to return yet. With Joseph Woll back on the ice, James Mirtle of The Athletic decided to try and predict when he will be back in the lineup. According to Mirtle and his sources, a target for Joseph Woll to be back could be as the backup goalie against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday.

With this date now revealed that would mean the first game Joseph Woll could be in line to start would be Thursday, October 24th against the St. Louis Blues. If this return is a realistic timeline then the Toronto Maple Leafs will likely end up sending down Dennis Hildeby in the next few days as they prepare for Joseph Woll to come back. Once Joseph Woll returns Craig Berube and the Toronto Maple Leafs will have to figure out the rotation between him and Anthony Stolarz. To this point, Anthony Stolarz has played quite well and earned a chance to start. Since losing on opening night to the Montreal Canadiens Anthony Stolarz is 2-0. With Joseph Woll's injury concerns, he could remain the backup unless performances change dramatically from either goalie. Heading into the rest of the season it will be good for the Toronto Maple Leafs to have Joseph Woll back. Good competition could create a high level of performance from both Joseph Woll and Anthony Stolarz as they fight to earn more starts.
