The Leafs will be without three players when they face off against the Washington Capitals, as several players are still dealing with some sort of injuries.

Max Domi and Jake McCabe won't dress for the Toronto Maple Leafs when they host the Washington Capitals at Scotiabank Arena on Friday.

Both players joined a small group skate on Thursday while the rest of the team, with the exception of rookies Fraser Minten and Alex Nylander, took the day off.

Max Domi, who has a lower-body injury, was put on injured reserve and will sit out for his seventh consecutive game. The 29-year-old forward has been struggling this season, recording a 13-game pointless streak.

In 19 games, he has six assists but no goals. The Leafs have noted that Domi has been dealing with physical issues through the slump, and that might be affecting his performance. He hasn't spoken to the media since his absence.

The Leafs will look to once again take down the Capitals, just like their thrilling overtime win in Washington back in November.

Jake McCabe, out since taking a puck to the head in Toronto's win over Tampa Bay on Nov. 30, will miss a third straight game.

The defenceman was initially not expected to miss time by head coach Sheldon Keefe, but McCabe sat out the Leafs' 3-2 victory against Nashville despite declaring himself good to go earlier this week.

The 31-year-old has been a steady presence on Toronto's blue line this season. Meanwhile, Max Pacioretty remains on long-term injured reserve with a lower-body injury and can't return until Dec. 7, when the Leafs play Pittsburgh.

Speaking early this week, Max Pacioretty said he feels good but also acknowledged outside factors contribute to him not being back.

Of course, in the meantime, the Leafs have kept on truckin', going 10-2-0 in their last 12 games while waiting for reinforcements.
