TNT panel propose a major mock trade that would send Mitch Marner to the Colorado Avalanche for Mikko Rantanen

Mitch Marner's future in Toronto continues to be a mystery and last night the TNT crew suggested a wild trade that would end up with Mikko Rantanen as a Maple Leaf.

This season the Toronto Maple Leafs have played well but have a crucial decision that has been hanging over the season.

Superstar forward Mitch Marner is a pending free agent for the Maple Leafs and there is still debate over whether or not the team should sign him.

During the regular season, Mitch Marner is incredible and that has continued this season with Mitch Marner stepping up while Auston Matthews has been out due to injury.

Despite playing well in the regular season Mitch Marner still has the narrative follow him around that he cannot produce in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

This narrative has led to indecision on re-signing Mitch Marner for next season.

With Mitch Marner not signed the TNT panel during their broadcast last night suggested a wild trade that could solve the Maple Leafs problems.

TNT draw up mock trade to send Mikko Rantanen to Toronto for Mitch Marner

During a first intermission segment, the TNT panel was discussing the future of Avalanche forward Mikko Rantanen.

During the discussion, analyst Anson Carter proposed a trade of Mitch Marner for Mikko Rantanen.

In response to this proposal Maple Leafs and Mitch Marner defender Paul Bissonnette firmly came back with a no-deal answer.

Paul Bissonnette then continued and not only denied the possibility of this kind of trade but even called it nonsense.

While this trade is likely a long shot to happen it would end in one of the wildest days in the history of the NHL with one of the biggest one-for-one superstar swaps the league has ever seen.

The trade would provide the Maple Leafs with a big physical proven playoff scorer to add to the lineup but they would have to be willing to break the bank to keep him around.

As the season goes on all eyes will be on both the Toronto Maple Leafs and Colorado Avalanche to see if anything materializes to send Mitch Marner or Mikko Rantanen to a new home.
