This evening a new report from NHL insider Pierre LeBrun has indicated that Mitch Marner and his camp are expecting a major payday that could top Auston Matthews. The Toronto Maple Leafs and Mitch Marner have been going back and forth on contract negotiations for the last several months. With Mitch Marner in the final season of his contract with the Maple Leafs things are becoming more and more imperative that a contract gets done. Since the season started there have not been many reports on where things stand between Mitch Marner and the Maple Leafs. While it has been known that the two sides continue to negotiate specific numbers have not been revealed to this point. However, this evening that seems to have changed as NHL insider Pierre LeBrun provided a major update. <h3>Pierre LeBrun reveals Mitch Marner could demand more money than Auston Matthews</h3> In a new episode of Insider Trading Pierre LeBrun spoke about the Mitch Marner contract situation with the Toronto Maple Leafs. According to Pierre LeBrun, the expectation is that Mitch Marner re-signs still but the path to get there could be difficult. He reveals that the Toronto Maple Leafs have an internal cap in which they are refusing to pay any player more than Auston Matthews currently makes. However, according to Pierre LeBrun, he expects Mitch Marner and his agents to push for more money than Auston Matthews due to the salary cap projections over the next couple of seasons. The salary cap landscape has changed dramatically the cap is going way up over the next few years.
