The Toronto Maple Leafs faced off against the Pittsburgh Penguins last night which included Michael Bunting's return to Toronto which ended in controversy.

The Toronto Maple Leafs season continued last night as the Pittsburgh Penguins came to town. This was once again an opportunity for several former Maple Leafs to get revenge including former GM Kyle Dubas. Michael Bunting also returns for a third season in a row to play the Maple Leafs. Bunting was of course traded originally to the Carolina Hurricanes.

The Maple Leafs were looking to finally settle in and play a complete game and bring home a win. Early in the game things went well for the Maple Leafs despite going down 1-0 the Maple Leafs would come roaring back to take a 3-1 including a big goal from Matthew Knies.

In the third period, the Toronto Maple Leafs shortened the bench as they tried to put a stranglehold on the game. The Penguins would then try and mount a comeback but ultimately fell to the Maple Leafs 4-2. After the game, the victorious Toronto Maple Leafs spoke to the media. During the media availability, Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Simon Benoit had incredibly harsh words for former Maple Leaf Michael Bunting.

During his post-game comments, Simon Benoit was asked about the overall feel of the game. Throughout the game, Simon Benoit and Michael Bunting had several physical altercations. This continued throughout the night as both players seemed to have a lot to say to one another.

Simon Benoit decided to address these incidents by claiming that Michael Bunting was diving on purpose to serve his role on the team. According to Simon Benoit diving is a crucial part of Michael Bunting's game that he refuses to get rid of.

The Pittsburgh Penguins and Toronto Maple Leafs will play one another several more times throughout the season. Now with this information known about Michael Bunting it will be fascinating to see if the diving continues when the two come together again.
