The Toronto Maple Leafs have another offseason of tough questions and looking themselves in the mirror after another first-round loss. It seems like this one may have been the final straw as the team is hinting at major moves this summer. The team is set to host their first of two media availability days tomorrow. The players and coaching staff, namely Sheldon Keefe, will hold their own exit interviews tomorrow morning with team management set to address the media on Thursday. Keefe will be kicking things off himself as he will be the first to face the media. This is a change of pace from the organization. The #leafs will hold an end-of-season availability for players and head coach Sheldon Keefe tomorrow, with management not due to speak until Thursday. That's a significant departure from past protocol in these parts.

This has lead to much speculation about what is coming for the Leafs this summer. One popular theory is that Sheldon Keefe will be fired in the coming days. This would not come as a surprise to many, especially after his comments after game seven, in which the head coach implied that the Leafs beat themselves. When teams play the Leafs, they set up the game for the Leafs to beat themselves. Sheldon Keefe on the Leafs game 7 loss.

Another theory is that the team will trade Mitch Marner, finally breaking up the core four. Marner has consistently been a target of much criticism throughout his tenure with the Leafs, but this season he was under an extra large magnifying glass. He has taken a lot of blame for the series-winning goal too, as he was not very engaged on the backcheck, allowing David Pastrnak to zoom past him and beat him to the puck and the net. If you can sit here and defend Mitch Marner for how he played tonight then you need a smack in the head. I'm so tired of people defending this garbage playoff player. Guy asks for Matthews' money when he shows this kind of effort? GET OFF MY TEAM

Of course, these moves are not mutually exclusive. The Leafs could both fire Keefe and trade Marner. But what else will they do? Will Brendan Shanahan still be with the team next season? Who else might have their jobs on the line? Hopefully we get some clarity on these issues in the coming days.
