Toronto Maple Leafs take a major shot at the Winnipeg Jets after breaking their undefeated streak

The Toronto Maple Leafs took home a big win against the Winnipeg Jets last night and took an opportunity to troll the Jets and star Mark Scheifele after the game.

The Toronto Maple Leafs and Winnipeg Jets on the surface don't have a big rivalry. Things could be changing after last night's game and an interesting celebration by several Maple Leafs players. The Winnipeg Jets came into the game undefeated and looking like one of the best teams in hockey.

Despite taking on an undefeated team the Toronto Maple Leafs came out strong and took a 4-0 lead over the Winnipeg Jets. Max Pacioretty, William Nylander, John Tavares, and Morgan Rielly all had a huge hand in helping the Toronto Maple Leafs take the lead.

While the Winnipeg Jets would try and mount a comeback it would end up being too little too late. The Toronto Maple Leafs would come out on top 6-4 and take home a massive win.

After the game the Toronto Maple Leafs decided to celebrate such a big win. In the process of celebrating the Maple Leafs ended up trolling the Winnipeg Jets and Mark Scheifele in a major way.

John Tavares and the Toronto Maple Leafs troll the Winnipeg Jets

During their post game celebration the Toronto Maple Leafs handed out their player of the game belt. The belt was given to Toronto Maple Leafs star forward John Tavares for his hat trick that led to the Maple Leafs win. After getting the belt he and Max Domi posed for a picture.

The caption on the post from X is where the troll comes in. 'Anything better than a new belt pic?' is a reference to a clip of Mark Scheifele of the Winnipeg Jets asking if there is anything better than beating the Leafs while giving their player of the game helmet to Logan Stanley back in 2021.

The Toronto Maple Leafs and their social team seem to be holding a grudge for the comments made by the Winnipeg Jets almost 3 years ago. Since this incident involving the Jets in 2021, the Maple Leafs have done everything they can to make sure they do not lose to the Winnipeg Jets and have in fact won six straight games against the Winnipeg Jets since those comments were made.

While it is unclear whether the players were involved in the troll, the Toronto Maple Leafs seem to mark their calendars anytime they play the Winnipeg Jets. It will be interesting to see if this creates a bit of a rivalry between the two teams despite being in different conferences.
