Robert Bortuzzo could be suspended today after he broke an unknown rule last night as his Utah Hockey Club took on the Boston Bruins.

It is within rule 70.2 to avoid players jumping off their benches to get involved in fights.

In its absence, players could exploit this chaos and jump in off their bench to disrupt play when their team is struggling or needs a spark.

Last night, Robert Bortuzzo broke this rule by stepping off the bench and immediately confronting Bruins center Mark Kastelic.

As Kastelic was skating near the benches at the end of his shift, Bortuzzo grabbed him and dropped the gloves.

This isn't the first breach of the rule this season.

During the preseason, Tampa Bay's Connor Geekie received a one-game suspension for a similar incident.

Fans certainly jumped at the opportunity to roast Bortuzzo for the apparent disadvantage he'd placed Kastelic at.

Already exhausted from his shift, Kastelic was out against a fresh opponent in what many perceived to be an unfair fight.

But the tension didn't end there.

After serving their penalties, the two players again clashed in the second period.

This time the fight was a little more on an even playing field, as both had been actively playing before the gloves came off once more.

The 13-year NHL veteran Bortuzzo has played in 566 career games, recording 20 goals, 74 points, and 517 penalty minutes.

With these two fights last night, his fight total rises to 57.

The league will have a decision on potential discipline for Bortuzzo today, so stay tuned.
