Darnell Nurse refuses to accept Ryan Reaves apology after brutal hit that led to his injury

This afternoon Edmonton Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse spoke for the first time since the brutal hit that led to his injury and he did not hold back.

Last week Edmonton Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse was taken out of action by Toronto Maple Leafs forward Ryan Reaves.

On the play, Darnell Nurse was blindsided by Ryan Reaves and suffered a major head injury.

Due to the hit, Ryan Reaves was ejected from the game and then the following day was given a huge 5 game suspension by the NHL Department of Player Safety.

Since all of this went down neither Darnell Nurse or Ryan Reaves have spoken to the media about the incident.

This afternoon that all changed when Darnell Nurse returned to practice for the first time with the Edmonton Oilers.

After practice, he addressed the media and did not hold back on his feelings toward Ryan Reaves and the hit that led to his injury.

During his post-practice interview, Darnell Nurse spoke to the media and was asked if he talked to Ryan Reaves after the hit and how he is feeling now.

He confirms that puck carriers have a responsibility to keep their heads up, but at the same time, there is a lot of room to hit a man as big as him, and Ryan Reaves only contacted his head.

Over the last several days, Darnell Nurse's opinion has been shared by many others in the hockey community.

Of course, Darnell Nurse could've done more to protect himself but it seems quite clear that Ryan Reaves intentions were to make contact with Darnell Nurse's head regardless

In the end, it seems Darnell Nurse avoided a major injury and will be returning soon as Ryan Reaves serves his much-deserved 5 game suspension.
