Today the Utah Hockey Club have made another addition before their inaugural season this time adding a former Stanley Cup champion to the roster. The last 6 months have been a whirlwind for the Utah Hockey Club. They went from a franchise located in Arizona to a whole new franchise in Utah with no link to the former Coyotes franchise. Since then they have made several big moves including trading for Mikhail Sergachev.

This afternoon the additions are continuing as yet another Stanley Cup champion will be heading to Utah. The Utah Hockey Club has reportedly agreed to a contract with former St. Louis Blues defenseman Robert Bortuzzo according to former NHLer Scottie Upshall.

Coming into this NHL season Robert Bortuzzo will bring a veteran presence and size to the defensive unit of the Utah Hockey Club. At 35 years old Robert Bortuzzo's days of being a top defensive defenseman are behind him. With that said he could still contrivute in a depth role. Last season Robert Bortuzzo split his time between the St. Louis Blues where he played 4 games and the New York Islanders where he played 23 games. Sadly he failed to record a point last season and was a pure defensive specialist. With the Utah Hockey Club looking to make an immediate playoff run the team will have to rely on Robert Bortuzzo having a bounce back season to impact the roster.
