Canucks captain Quinn Hughes sat out last game as he was dealing with an injury, and now his agent has provided an update on his 4 Nations participation.

The Vancouver Canucks have an injury problem with Quinn Hughes, who was surprisingly benched on Sunday despite participating in warmups. In Hughes' absence, the Canucks lost 3-2 in overtime to the Detroit Red Wings.

Head Coach Rick Tocchet said, "He wanted to gut it out, but, you know, not the smartest play to play. He wants to play every game, so, 48 hours, we will see how he is."

The loss of Hughes is a big blow not only for Vancouver but for Team USA, as well. In ten days, the Americans begin their 4 Nations Face-Off tour with Finland.

As a current Norris Trophy winner, Hughes will be an important player at even strength and with a man advantage.

On Monday, Hughes' agent, J.P. Barry, appeared with 'Donnie and Dhali' to update Hughes' availability.

Representing Hughes, Elias Pettersson, and Tyler Myers, Barry assured Canucks and USA Hockey followers that Hughes' injury isn't a long-term problem. Barry squashed rumors about Hughes' future in Vancouver, too.

"Just bumps and bruises," said Barry when asked about Hughes' injury. "He's working through it, but it's nothing serious. It's just the riggers of a hard season, and he just wants to play. He plays a lot of minutes, and he's a target for people, so he's going to have to play through those things. The odd day, there will be a rest like there was here, but it will help him, and he'll be right back."

"He just wants to be ready, and he wants to play at that level. It's important to him, and it's important to the game, and I don't think it is going to affect the team at all."

With two years left on his current contract and entering free agency in 2027, Hughes' future with the Canucks and a move to join his brothers in New Jersey have been debated for some time. But for now, such speculations have been squashed.

The Canucks face off with the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday and, assuming Hughes is healthy, will give Canucks' followers a glimpse at the post-trade deadline lineup for the Canucks.
