The Vancouver Canucks have been surrounded by controversy and reports of fighting within the locker room and today captain Quinn Hughes addressed those reports.

On Thursday former Vancouver Canucks head coach Bruce Boudreau confirmed that J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson have not gotten along for several years.

This report from Boudreau was the first confirmation from a source that was at one point in the locker room confirming the feud between the two players.

Boudreau's comments along with a report from Canucks insider Rick Dhaliwal confirming the conflict set in motion fan and media discussion of the issue even further.

Of course, this conflict is reportedly part of the reason Miller stepped away from the Canucks for nearly a month.

Now today Canucks captain Quinn Hughes became the first person who is currently within the organization to confirm that there are problems in the locker room.

Quinn Hughes confirms reported feud between J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson

In a new interview with the media after practice, Canucks captain Quinn Hughes addressed the media.

Hughes was asked about the locker room during the media availability and the speculation that there are problems between Miller and Pettersson.

Instead of sidestepping the question like many other members of the organization have, Hughes came out and essentially confirmed that there is still tension.

I think that it's been a lot of learning from everyone in here and not to beat around the bush but everyone knows the reports out there. There's times where i get upset with Millsy there's times when I get upset with Petey there's times where I get upset with Hronek. That doesn't mean I don't love those guys and vice versa.

It seems that while Hughes confirms there are problems and frustration within the locker room it does not seem as permanent and personal as some reports have made it seem.

Hughes makes it seem that it is just frustration between teammates as part of a long season.

Wherever the truth ends up whether Hughes is correct or there is something more personal going on the Canucks need to get things solved quickly.

If they are going to achieve the high heights that are expected of them both inside and outside of the locker room Hughes and the leadership in Vancouver need to galvanize the group and get everyone pulling in the right direction.

Now that these comments are out in the public it will be interesting to see if this makes things better or worse for the Canucks.
