It was a night to never forget for Capitals goaltender Charlie Lindgren, as not only did he score the most bizarre goal in his own net, but he received an award. You wouldn't believe your eyes, a super crazy own goal, maybe never seen by hockey fans before, happened in last night's game involving Capitals goalie Charlie Lindgren. Last night, Lindgren moved the puck into his net like it was some trademark of the signature scoring moments kept with the team captain, Alex Ovechkin. It's just one of those moments you truly have to see with your own eyes, as it was incredibly shocking.

He probably wanted to bank it off the boards to his teammate John Carlson, but his spatial awareness let him down in spectacular fashion, and he completely misjudged the position of the net he was supposed to be defending. Fortunately, though, the Capitals turned the miscue into a rallying point, storming back in grand fashion to defeat the Tampa Bay Lightning and overcome Lindgren's blunder with a 5-4 win. The own goal gave Tampa Bay the lead at that moment and gave Brayden Point a hat trick in memorable fashion, one that likely will be remembered because of the unusual circumstances. Not exactly the most serious team when it comes to mistakes, the Capitals didn't dwell on it either. In a humorous plot twist, they gave Lindgren a very special, unexpected award, the 'Player of the Game' honor, jokingly celebrating his first goal in the NHL.

Now that's peak team chemistry. Even after losing Alex Ovechkin to an injury last week, the Capitals are resilient and competitive, proving they can laugh off setbacks and find ways to win. They seem to be doing just fine without Ovi for now.
