Tonight Montreal Canadiens enforcer Arber Xhekaj has once again found himself in trouble after seemingly punching a referee during a brawl. Arber Xhekaj is known for being a controversial figure within the NHL landscape. Over the last several seasons Arber Xhekaj has built up his reputation as a fierce enforcer who can occasionally cross the line and be a dirty player. Tonight against the Boston Bruins Arber Xhekaj has once again crossed the line this time by punching a referee in the face. The brawl began after fellow Canadiens defenseman Lane Hutson was hit by Mark Kastelic. Immediately after the hit Arber Xhekaj decided to shove another Bruin Charlie Coyle to the ground. With the penalties handed out the conversation now becomes about whether or not Arber Xhekaj is suspended. Striking an official in the NHL is usually deemed to be an automatic suspension. On this play, Arber Xhekaj clearly makes contact with the referee but the NHL Department of Player Safety will likely need to determine Arber Xhekaj's intent.
