Tonight the Edmonton Oilers are in Nashville to take on the Predators and veteran defenseman Darnell Nurse decided to drop the gloves and fight Michael McCarron. Late in the first period of the Oilers' contest against the Nashville Predators, we have fireworks. With the Edmonton Oilers down 1-0 defenseman Darnell Nurse was looking to bring momentum back in his team's favor. To do so he challenged power forward Michael McCarron to a fight. <a href='https://x.com/KieserNick/status/1847075951777071602' class='lien_marqueur' target='_blank' rel='noopener'>The fight between Nurse and McCarron</a> was short but dominated by Darnell Nurse throughout. Late in the fight as Michael McCarron was on the ground he seemed to try to get in some extra punches. Both Connor McDavid and Corey Perry <a href='https://www.hockeylatest.com/nhl-team/edmonton-oilers/connor-mcdavid-calls-out-the-edmonton-oilers-biggest-problems-after-third-straight-loss' class='lien_marqueur' target='_blank' rel='noopener'>commented earlier this week about the Oilers' lack of compete.</a> Now with Darnell Nurse coming in to fight for momentum and stick up for his team that seems to be less of an issue. Both players were sent to the box and the final couple minutes of the period continued. After the fight, the Edmonton Oilers were able to use the momentum captured and tie the game up before heading into intermission. The Edmonton Oilers seem to be finding their groove in this game so far. It will be interesting to see if the momentum from the first period can be carried into the rest of the game.
