In Friday night's game 3 between the Rangers and the Capitals, Tom Wilson invited the rookie Matt Rempe to drop the gloves. Surprisingly, he refused. The New York Rangers were in Washington for the first time of the series, and unfortunately for Alex Ovechkin and his teammates, it went exactly as many fans thought it would go. The Rangers left the arena, after the game, with their third victory of the playoffs, once again dominating the Caps. Actually, if one thing surprised the fans in the game was to see Matt Rempe refusing to drop the gloves against Tom Wilson. Wilson made cricles around him, trying to provoke the rookie, but he kept his composure and remained in the game, without giving Wilson what he wanted. Check out how it went down in the following video:

With a big lead in the series, Rempe doesn't have to fight. Opponents will try to get under his skin for the whole playoffs and it's important that he keeps his head cool to avoid hurting his team. He did, however, land a major hit on Trevor Van Riemsdyk, which sent him to the penalty box for two minutes. Watch the massive hit here:

In game one, Rempe proved he wasn't only good at fighting by scoring the first goal of the series:

Scoring goals, making plays and avoiding five-minute penalties is more important than fighting at this point of the series, and it's great to see Rempe focus on that aspect of his game. The Rangers could clinch their ticket for the second round as early as tomorrow, with game 4 set to go down in Washington at 8 pm E.T. More to come.
