This afternoon a new report revealed that Edmonton Oilers forward Evander Kane could be facing a major injury recovery after recent offseason setbacks. The end of the season for Evander Kane was particularly frustrating even compared to his Oilers teammates. Of course, the Edmonton Oilers lost in the Stanley Cup Finals but beyond that Evander Kane missed the series due to injury. After the season ended not much was learned about the nature of Evander Kane's injury. Now today a new report from Bob Stauffer has brought to light the strong possibility of Evander Kane needing surgery for the injuries he sustained. The surgery would then prevent Evander Kane from beginning the season with the Oilers.

This would be the second time in the last 3 seasons that Evander Kane will be potentially heading to LTIR. During the 2022-23 NHL season, Evander Kane missed a significant portion of time due to a major wrist injury before returning against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

With the season coming up at a rapid pace the Edmonton Oilers need to start mapping out their lineup. If Evander Kane will indeed miss a good chunk of time due to this injury the Oilers need to find someone who can slide into the top-six and replace his production.
