The NHL staged its annual skills competition last night at Sunrise, Florida's FLA Live Arena. The yearly competition, which includes the best NHL players, is meant to spotlight the best athletes in the league. displaying their skills to the hockey community. The annual game in Florida this year was intended to demonstrate the effectiveness of the NHL's Florida markets, but it instead served to demonstrate the general lack of enthusiasm. The Panthers' average attendance this season has been around 82%, ranking 27th in the league. Last night's skills competition, which had several seats unfilled, put that attendance problem on full show. This photo shows how terrible the attendance was for the All Star skills. To have an arena empty like that on a special night like this is truly dissapointing. <div align='center'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/SWhyno/status/1621660321164189699?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1621660321164189699%7Ctwgr%5Ea2489d8c6b8b0c75e5ff4ac153390f3bb45357bf%7Ctwcon%5Es1_c10&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.bladeofsteel.com%2FEmbarrassing-photo-that-Gary-Bettman-does-not-want-fans-to-see-shows-awful-terrible-all-star-game-attendance-205755%3Ffbclid%3DIwAR39o2wBZ7JajI9uYRhr81vdsOP8a_nl5-xC9njx5kUXhqlxxJbKz-C8PCA'> </a></blockquote></div> <div align='center'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/itsmitchmarney/status/1621663659167567873?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1621663659167567873%7Ctwgr%5Ea2489d8c6b8b0c75e5ff4ac153390f3bb45357bf%7Ctwcon%5Es1_c10&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.bladeofsteel.com%2FEmbarrassing-photo-that-Gary-Bettman-does-not-want-fans-to-see-shows-awful-terrible-all-star-game-attendance-205755%3Ffbclid%3DIwAR39o2wBZ7JajI9uYRhr81vdsOP8a_nl5-xC9njx5kUXhqlxxJbKz-C8PCA'> </a></blockquote></div> Some reports are suggesting that fans ultimately were allowed to move down sections to fill up the lower bowl so it looks full on TV. Gary Bettman will probably call this event a success but true NHL fans know that something needs to change for the All Star break to attract more people to tune in.
