A surprise is in the balance and Kent Hughes must take advantage of it

The Calgary Flames have placed 23-year-old defenseman Juuso Valimaki in the lineup.

Unfortunately, with the Flames' excellent defensive brigade, the former 16th overall pick in 2017 will have to change his address.

Valimaki had about 20 points, in 35 games, in the AHL last season. In 2021, he had 11 points in the NHL.

Recall that Kent Hughes has the very first pick in the balloting until November 1.
