Sidney Crosby is the undisputed leader and pillar of the Penguins for more than 15 years, no doubt about it. He already has a one-way ticket to the Hockey Hall of Fame and is still considered one of the most complete players in the league.

However, the Penguins missed the playoffs for the first time since the 2005-06 season and many are wondering if the captain should be traded while he still has some value.
This is the case of journalist Mathias Brunet, who would let Crosby go without any restraint if he were the Penguins' GM.
Personally, I wouldn't make this trade, even if it would cost Pittsburgh years of rebuilding. Crosby has brought three Stanley Cups and over a decade of great memories to the Penguins, which deserves absolute loyalty from the team.
Nevertheless, hockey is a business and just as we saw with Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews, loyalty doesn't seem to matter enough anymore, while results do. Moreover, the Penguins will have a new general manager this season, which could change the game.
