Have you ever stopped to think about how hockey is a sport where a bunch of people skate around with knives on their feet? While skate-related injures are rare, they do happen and sometimes they can even be life-threatening. Tonight, fans of the top pro league in the UK, the EIHL, witnessed arguably the scariest thing that can happen in a hockey game.

Fans Asked To Leave Building Following Medical Emergency

The Nottingham Panthers of the EIHL announced on X today that their game was indefinitely paused and the fans were asked to leave after a life-threatening injury happened during play.

According to posts on social media, the scene was devastating and paramedics had to come onto the ice to treat former Penguin Adam Johnson, who's throat was cut by a skate while he was on the ice. Players from both teams apparently formed a wall around him so fans could not see what was happening, but there was a lot of blood and paramedics had to perform CPR on Johnson while he was still on the ice.
