Blues GM Doug Armstrong Looking to Make a Trade with the Maple Leafs?

Brad Treliving's intentions to bolster his defensive line before the trade deadline are no secret.

Earlier this week, as the Maple Leafs faced off against the Blackhawks in Toronto, a viewer caught the attention of many.

That spectator was none other than Doug Armstrong.

This sighting sparked speculations: Is Toronto gearing up for a trade with the Blues?

The Blues are notably deep in defensive talent. Both Justin Faulk and Colton Parayko seem to be suitable fits for Toronto, but acquiring them won't be cheap. Yet, a more budget-friendly alternative is on the horizon.

Could Treliving be Targeting a Blues Defenseman?

One defenseman is particularly standing out as a viable acquisition for Treliving.

It appears that the Leafs' GM has Robert Bortuzzo on his radar for a possible acquisition.

Bortuzzo, known for his toughness, is a defenseman with a penchant for aggressive play.

"Robert Bortuzzo hasn't played yet this season for STL, and they're carrying 8D (primarily to play their young D).

He's 6'4, shoots right, has a cup ring, is from Thunder Bay, is somewhat physical, and has squared off against every heavyweight in the past 5 years."

Though orchestrating such a trade is complex, given Toronto's tight financial position, it's certainly a possibility worth exploring.
