Bruce Boudreau believes it is clear who the Maple Leafs should move on from in the core four. <h2>Boudreau's Thoughts</h2> In a recent interview, Bruce Boudreau went over what he thinks the Maple Leafs need to do this offseason. It is well known that the Leafs are in a cap crunch and will need to sign Auston Matthews and William Nylander if they want to keep the core four together past next year. Boudreau commented on what he thinks the Leafs should do. <q>«I really don't think William (Nylander) is going to take a hometown discount. And I only say that because I had Michael �his dad. And his dad held out, and looking at William's last contract, he held out. So, I think he has a value of what he thinks he's worth and he's gonna want to get it.»</q> He then went on to add what he thinks of Auston Matthews. <q>«And Auston. To me, take him as long as you can have him. If you can sign him for eight years, sign him for eight years, but if you can only sign him for three, take him for three. He is � when healthy and when he wants to play � probably the number three player in the league, if not higher.»</q> <h2>Potential Nylander Return</h2> When it comes down to it, the Leafs will have a lot of purchasing power if they decide to move on from William Nylander like Boudreau thinks they should. He would be moved for whichever package the Leafs believe fits their window. There is a world where Nylander would be packaged with something and traded for a better player but there is also a world where Nylander is traded exclusively for picks and prospects. Most likely, it will fall somewhere in the middle with Nylander being traded for a player and some future assets to go with it.
