After four solid, successful regular seasons, the Toronto Maple Leafs have now inked Sheldon Keefe to a major extension, and it's getting mixed reactions from the hockey world.

When the deal was made, many reacted negatively, but when asked for comment, Bruce Boudreau had this to say.

I think Brad did a great job in getting him signed and I think Sheldon deserved it if you look at his four year record. It's hard coaching a good team and to keep them motivated to get as many points as you can, and as they have in the last 4 years, is quite good.

I think to get that extension is really important, I think it shows the players 'Hey listen he's here for a long time now you've gotta pay attention to him.'

After being treated unfairly in his last coaching role, it's safe to say that the veteran is happy for Keefe, who has himself faced unwarranted criticism over his time with the Maple Leafs.

Next step: Stanley Cup

Keefe has overall been solid in his role with Toronto, as he has posted a 166-71-30 in his five years coaching the Maple Leafs, and while the playoff success is yet to come, he's clearly done a good job in coaching a talented team, which can be more of a struggle than some would think.

However, this extension comes with plenty of expectations, as the Maple Leafs are on the verge of a deep playoff run, and if he can't get it done early, there's a chance he may not see out the deal.
