Oliver Kylington stepped away from the NHL ahead of the 2022-23 season, and now, it appears he's on the verge of a return to the NHL for the first time since then.
Oliver Kylington returns to the AHL for the Calgary Flames

At that time, it was not revealed exactly what Kylington was going through, and the Flames have continued to keep the issue private, calling it personal reasons, and throughout the process, the Flames management and their fans have been patient and supportive of the young man. At 26-years of age, Kylington has now taken a major step towards a return however, as he has been officially assigned to the AHL Calgary Wranglers on a conditioning assessment as he eyes a return to the NHL.

Much needed defensive depth for Calgary
In his last full season for Calgary in the eventful 2021-22 campaign, Kylington posted career highs in games (71), goals (9) and points (31), and given their potential upcoming trades of Noah Hanifin and/or Chris Tanev, his return will be much welcomed. Whether or not he can get back to the level he showed at 24-years of age is yet to be seen, but with the young standout being a UFA this upcoming summer, there's no doubt he will want to get back onto the ice and prove he can be a key piece of the future for this team.
