Dmitry Orlov has made quite an impression with his strong performance for the Boston Bruins, accumulating 17 points in 23 games and notching eight assists in seven playoff games.

Orlov spent ten seasons with the Washington Capitals before being traded to the Bruins. Now, as an unrestricted free agent, he has shared his preferred destination for his next contract.

While Orlov has found success with the Bruins, it appears his heart remains with his former team, the Washington Capitals.

Matt Porter reports that Orlov is open to staying with the Bruins but would prefer a return to the Capitals.

"Dmitry Orlov is open to re-signing with the Bruins, but it sounds like his preference is to re-sign with the Washington Capitals," Porter said.

"Orlov was traded at the deadline after the Capitals & Orlov were too far apart on extension discussions, but it seems the two sides are willing to get closer and reopen discussions when free agency begins."

Landing Orlov won't be an easy task, as his recent performance could lead to a sizeable contract demand.

However, this is an excellent opportunity for the Capitals, who should not pass up the chance to re-sign their former defenseman.

After trading away several key players during the last deadline, bringing Orlov back could be a significant move for the team.
