In the midst of the race for a playoff spot, the Laval Rocket got some much needed offensive reinforcements. Emil Heineman joined the team a little over two weeks ago and the 6'1 forward has been very impressive in his first visit to North America. In seven games with the Habs, Heineman has found the back of the net seven times and added an assist to his record. The Swede is also on a six-game scoring streak with at least one goal. Not bad for a player who had only eight goals in 35 games with Leksands IF in the SweHL!

Acquired in the trade that sent Tyler Toffoli to the Calgary Flames, the main interested party says that he quickly adjusted to the North American style, as he likes to play on a smaller ice surface: I'm throwing a lot more since I got here. I like the smaller rink, you get more chances. Although his stats weren't stellar in the Swedish top flight, Emil Heineman is proving to the Tricolore staff that he has the skills to fill an offensive role. The 2020 second round pick has a great shot and uses his size to protect the puck, and always seems to be in the right places on the ice to get quality chances. While the sample size is small, the 21-year-old has shown some very nice things since joining the Rocket. Jean-Francois Houle believes that the youngster is not done improving and that he could be a great addition for the CH in the near future: We knew what kind of player we were going to get here in Laval and we were ready to put him in a chair where he could have success. We're very happy for him, he's doing very well. He's showing that he has a high ceiling and that there's still room for a lot of improvement. He can be a very serious prospect here for the Montreal Canadiens. Source : RDS
