Extremely strange scene: Valeri Nichushkin is escorted by security to return to Russia

Strangely enough, Valeri Nichushkin was not at the Avalanche's practice following the second game of the series against the Seattle Kraken, as he also did not take part in the game on Saturday night.

The most concerning part of all this is that the player was escorted by security to the airport to return to Russia. Although Jared Bednar indicated that the player left for personal reasons, he did not suffer any injuries during the playoffs, the coach has not heard from his player since his departure.

Team officials even mentioned that they didn't even know if Nichushkin was back in Colorado.

We know that the Russian government wants to implement restrictive measures to prevent players from leaving for the NHL, including the obligation to follow the army's directives. We are only talking about speculations for the moment, but this story could very well be related to that situation.

From a hockey perspective, this is certainly a big loss for the Avalanche as the 28-year-old forward had 17 goals and 30 assists in 53 games this season. He was also an important player in last year's Stanley Cup win with 15 points in 20 playoff games.

This will be a situation to watch closely in the coming days, but Colorado may have to continue without the services of one of its best players.
