The Calgary Flames have seemingly turned a corner in recent days, but in their comeback win over the Nashville Predators, star forward Jonathan Huberdeau was benched after he just couldn't get going in the first two periods.
Jonathan Huberdeau reacts to benching

Unsurprisingly however, despite how devastated he looked on the bench, Huberdeau remains a fantastic teammate and held himself accountable after the game. It wasn't easy, I'm not going to lie. There's no pointing fingers. You've got to look in the mirror, I gotta be a better player. I know I've got it in me, I still believe in myself. I just gotta show it on the ice.

This is the type of attitude that has endeared him to Flames fans in recent months, as they have shown plenty of grace and support to him over the benching, in the hopes that they may see flashes of the old Huberdeau in the Flaming C.
Another rough start for the Flames highest paid player
Despite showing some signs of rebirth, Huberdeau's start has been similar to that of 2022-23, where he can contribute on some nights, but others, like last night, he just doesn't have it. In 12 games this season, Huberdeau has 2 goals and 6 points while seeing a rotating cast on his line, but like we've seen in recent times with Calgary, Connor Zary has settled down fellow veteran Nazem Kadri and got him rolling, so if the Flames can find Huberdeau a great linemate or two, there's no doubting he's ready to bounce back.
