The Boston Bruins have found themselves involved in many rumors lately. The latest of which was that Patrice Bergeron could come out of retirement to rejoin the team.
Rumors Emerge About Bergeron Coming Out Of Retirement
The Rumors were sparked by NHL analyst Paul Bissonnette, who revealed that he had heard the former captain was considering a comeback on his podcast yesterday. Patrice Bergeron making a comeback?! #RumorBoys are hearing so. Presented by @pinkwhitney.

These rumors gave hope to many Bruins fans who would love to see Bergeron return to the team. There is no denying that the fit is still there as the team failed to significantly bolster their center depth following Bergeron and Krejci's retirement last offseason. However, Bergeron addressed the rumors himself today and it is not good news for Bruins fans.
Bergeron Denies Rumors About Bruins Reunion
Today it came out that Bergeron is indeed staying retired. Steve Conroy, a reporter for the Bruins with sources close to Bergeron confirmed this in a post on X. In case anyone wanted to know, I asked Patrice Bergeron about his «comeback». Via text, he responded «I am NOT making a comeback.» His emphasis on the «NOT.» Carry on.

This news is perhaps not all that surprising as Bergeron has always been a player with a stellar reputation. Coming out of retirement could hurt that reputation, especially considering the fact that the team already named Brad Marchand as captain. That being said, the team does still need help down the middle.
Bruins Looking To Add Monahan To Bolster Center Depth For Playoffs
One potential addition could be Montreal's Sean Monahan. The Canadiens have reportedly been shopping him and it has already been reported that he is expected to be one of the first names off the board come the trade deadline. The Bruins in particular have been linked to Monahan. Some potential suitors in the trade market for Montreal Canadiens F Sean Monahan are the Boston Bruins, Colorado Avalanche, Edmonton Oilers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks, and Winnipeg Jets, per @DailyFaceoff.

The fit certainly makes sense, but it is yet to be seen whether or not the price is right. The Habs are reportedly looking to get a 1st round pick or a 2nd round pick and a prospect in return. That could be a high price for the Bruins to pay for a player that will likely play a 2nd line role for the remainder of the season.
