Esa Tikkanen, a highly acclaimed Finnish ice hockey player who achieved five Stanley Cup victories during his NHL career, is currently dealing with legal issues in his home country. The 58-year-old athlete is facing charges of aggravated tax fraud, as stated by court records. The accusations are related to his income earned overseas from 2015 to 2019. Although Tikkanen refutes the allegations, the charges remain in place. Tikkanen spoke to the reporters in Finland earlier this week and said: <q> I have not committed any offence, it is a matter of disagreement with the tax authorities </q> Authorities in Finland had seized assets worth up to $178,000 US from Tikkanen, but the decision has been reversed since then. The date for his hearing is yet to be determined. Tikkanen, who is widely recognized as one of the best hockey players from Finland, won a total of five Stanley Cups throughout his NHL career. He secured four of them with the Edmonton Oilers and one with the New York Rangers. Besides these teams, Tikkanen played for several others, including St. Louis, New Jersey, Vancouver, Florida, and Washington.
