Gabriel Landeskog's NHL career may be over after yet another surgery on his injured knee.

The longtime Colorado captain is expected to miss the entire 2023-2024 season after undergoing a cartilage transplant on his right knee in May. Landeskog missed the whole of last season rehabbing his injured knee after initially hurting it during the 2022 season.

No NHL player has had this type of surgery and returned to the league. NBA star and Chicago Bulls point guard Lonzo Ball had the same surgery as Landeskog, as has yet to return to the court with rampant speculation that his NBA career may be over.

Marc Methot, an NHL veteran of 13 NHL season is the only known player to attempt an NHL return after undergoing knee cartilage transplants. Methot says he was unable to skate at an NHL level after surgery, and retired after the 2018/2019 season.

Landeskog's Avalanche were the winners of the 2022 Stanley Cup, earning their first Stanley Cup since 2001.

If this is it for Landeskog, he will finish his career with 248 goals 323 assists and 571 points in his 738-game 11 year NHL Career.
