Of the many Canadiens defensemen playing their first professional season, Kaiden Guhle is without a doubt the most promising on the defensive squad.

With only 40 games under his belt, the 21-year-old is already playing like a multi-season veteran. He is solid in his zone, as well as being able to support the offense very effectively.

With a goal and an assist in the last game against the New York Rangers, Guhle has added his name to a very interesting list in the rich history of the Montreal Canadiens.

With a total of 17 points this year, he became the fifth highest point producer in club history for a rookie defenseman in his first 40 games with the Tricolore.

He is among such interesting names as Chris Chelios, Guy Lapointe, Petr Svoboda, and a certain Andrei Markov.

This is really promising for his future in the NHL, but especially for the future of the CH blue line.

In fact, by collecting his 16th and 17th points of the season, Guhle became only the second Tricolore rookie defenseman to collect so many points in a single campaign in the last 20 years.

With the exception of PK Subban, who had 38 points in 77 games in 2010-11, no other first-year Tricolore defenseman has been more productive than he has.

Moreover, if he hadn't been injured twice, which caused him to miss more than two months of activity, the CH's number 21 would be on a production pace of 35 points in 82 games; that's really amazing!

The Habs have a real diamond in the rough in Kaiden Guhle!
