Home run for Kent Hughes? A young goaltender acquired in the last draft is turning a lot of heads.

The Canadiens' latest draft was quite unusual. Not only did Kent Hughes decide to draft a defenseman at No. 5 when the prospect pool was already very strong at that position, he also selected three goaltenders, which is very rare.

When you think about it, it's quite logical under the circumstances. The new generation is made up mainly of forwards and defensemen, but there weren't many quality goalies on the CH roster.

Among the three drafted, there's Jacob Fowler, of course, but the one who's getting the most attention right now is Yevgeni Volokhin. The 6'3", 18-year-old plays in the MHL and is very impressive. Last year, he maintained an average of 2.12 and an efficiency rate of 0.927.

So far this season, he's won all six of his games, including three shutouts. He's even better than last year, and he's starting to gain momentum around the league.

In addition to his good size, Volokhin is very athletic and fights hard in front of his net, as shown in the sequence below.

He's sure to be a name to watch over the next few years.
