The Montreal Canadiens had a huge surprise at practice yesterday when defenseman David Savard was on the ice with his teammates.

He was wearing a non-contact jersey, but it is certain that he will be back in the next few days, possibly today for the last game of the year against the Washington Capitals.

In particular, he played quite physical with defenseman coach Stephane Robidas, which is a pretty good indication that he's soon ready to jump into action. This is a much needed return with the injury suffered by Kaiden Guhle in the last game.

More details to follow.
