The Toronto Maple Leafs have made some big moves this off-season, and after extension talks have stalled with one of their biggest stars, a trade may now be on the cards.
A home grown star

Forward William Nylander has been one of the best players on this Maple Leafs team for quite some time now, and after another great year where he recorded 87 points, it's clear that he is ready to blossom into a superstar. However, with his contract coming up, the team are looking to extend him, but since those talks have come to a halt in recent times, he's come up in plenty of mock trades, with Eklund of Hockey Buzz once again linking him to a surprise team.
A home town kid
According to Eklund, there have been rumblings of the Leafs talking to the Calgary Flames, Nylander's home town of a deal centred around star defenceman Noah Hanifin, who has great links to Leafs GM Brad Treliving. The Flames find themselves in a strange spot as a franchise, but with a top line of Elias Lindholm and Jonathan Huberdeau, landing a home town star like Nylander could change their fortunes, so this is a deal that makes sense for both parties.
